England Excel

What an unbelievable three weeks the England cricket team have had!!!  They have blown the world’s top ranked Test team away in the first two Test Matches and are now well on course to become acknowledged as the best Test team in the world at the end of the summer.

India look a team totally under-prepared for what has hit them both physically and mentally.  Their best bowler Zaheer Khan looked overweight and unfit before he went in the hamstring at Lord’s and it comes to something when India’s best seam bowler does not bowl as quick as the England women’s opening bowler!!

Two or three of the Indian batsmen look distinctively uncomfortable when the short ball is bowled at them and the three left-handers in question technically are all at sea.

On the other side of the coin, England have moved up a notch since the Sri Lankan series.  They look unbelievably focused and motivated, and in Stuart Broad, they have re-found the talisman of the team.  He has answered his critics in the right manner over the last two games and has bowled with his usual aggression but has also tempered that and pitched the ball up to a fuller length, which has brought him great success.  He has even managed to smile instead of grimace and shout when one or two umpiring decisions have gone against him, which also shows a more disciplined approach.

It will be interesting to see how India re-group over the next few days.  Sehwag has re-joined the squad, Gambhir also looks like being fit for the Third Test, so they will have their two regular opening batsmen back, but it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to halt the England bowling attack.  The other conundrum for India to solve is how to get 20 wickets to win the Test Match…. they will have to show a lot more than we have seen so far.

Keep it up England, I can see 4-0, barring weather, and come the end of the Fourth Test, it will be the first time England will be rated the world’s best Test team.
